New policy in place for Blog updates

As the move-in date approaches, the demand for blog updates has overwhelmed the home office. After several board meetings and a painful approval process, we have a new policy in place:

In order for your request for a new update to be acted upon, a worthwhile addition to the comment section must be submitted first. In order for a comment to be considered "worthwhile" it must meet the following criteria:

  • 3 sentences or more, preferably in English, with both a subject and predicate.
  • At least 2 of the 3 sentences are somehow related to the house.
  • Effort must be shown in producing a valuable or interesting comment.  The Board reserves the right to disqualify an entry that does not meet its standards.  For example:  "House is good.  Nice cabinets.  I like cheese." would not be given credit for a worthwhile entry.
  •  Bonus points given for humor.  The results of earning bonus points is TBD.
Once a comment has been entered and accepted by the board, expect a blog update within 12 hours...if there is no update on the house since the last entry, you will receive an update on a random facet of my life.

This policy is subject to change without notice.

Update:

The actual builder (who also does all the interior woodwork minus the cabinetry) is pretty much done.  Will just come back later in the week or next week to do the deck railings and the screens for the porch.  Stairs down from deck will wait until spring.  Cabinet guys continue to work away trimming everything up and getting on doors.  Also will be building the beamwork and trim for the bar.  Appliances delivered yesterday.  Carpeting should start today.  Qwest coming tomorrow (chances of smooth install about 12%).  Remaining granite should come soon.  We are moving lots of stuff to the house Saturday with the help of brother in law and a friend driving up from the cities.  Should be good times!

Pictures...some of these are phone pics so quality isn't the greatest:

Bar drawers and doors starting to go in.  These guys did an awesome job making the wood appear distressed and very rustic and "medieval"

Doors going in on the TV cabinets.  Doors slide up and back...and in the case of two of the shelves, we had to split it into two doors to accommodate the depth of the cabinet.

Appliances were delivered yesterday:

Doors going in on bathroom vanities:

Downstairs fireplace all trimmed up:

Mailbox installed...wouldn't have minded at all if it had been just a bit warmer that day...

Master bath gets a linen closet, front paneling on the bath, and cabinet above the vanity:

  1. Kind of sassy today huh? Well, I always follow the rules, so here goes.

The green house (satisfies the subject and predicate) looks awesome. I especially like the large freezer/refrig set up. Maybe we can split a cow this summer since you have a lot of freezer room for storage now. Speaking of summer, I wonder if the weather is going to be overly hot and humid this year. I better consult the Farmer's Almanac. Speaking of farmers, around us they have smelly pigs from time to time. I do NOT like when it's manure spreading season. You are probably not surrounded by a lot of farm land in the rural Duluth area. I will be traveling to Duluth the last weekend in January to help Seth paint the bathroom and help you all move anything that might be left. Can't wait to see the awesome, green house!

    A little construction humor:
Two blonde carpenters were working on a house. The one who was nailing down siding would reach into his nail pouch, pull out a nail and either toss it over his shoulder or nail it in.

The other, figuring this was worth looking into, asked, "Why are you throwing those nails away?"

The first explained, "If I pull a nail out of my pouch and it's pointed toward me, I throw it away 'cause it's defective. If it's pointed toward the house, then I nail it in!"

The second blonde got completely upset and yelled, "You moron! The nails pointed toward you aren't defective! They're for the other side of the house!"

    Hahaha.
