I forgot to include a couple pictures in the last post...
Sunrise from the deck:
And perspective from where we started...a picture from almost exactly one year ago...picnic in the truck, with cleared land in the background:
OK that's it! Signing off, until we build our next house...
After 15+ years of talking about it, we are finally doing it! Building a house!

The End
OK so I got a little sidetracked the last month or so...I apologize to my 3 fans out there (plus or minus 3)
But we did it. We're moved in. Living in our new house. It's been about 6 weeks now and we are somewhat organized, starting to get into a routine. I'm not going to try and remember every little detail and story over the last 6 weeks. Lets just say we've been busy and ran into our fair share of issues to fix -- nothing major.
So instead, I'll reflect on the lessons I have learned from building a house:
1. its a lot of work
yep, that about covers it.
And on with the last batch of pictures. A lot of these are from several weeks ago, but its all I've got.
Massive pile of stuff in the 3rd stall of the garage after the first weekend of moving. Covered by a tarp because woodworking was still going on in the garage:
Front porch beams:
The crew having a Breakfast of Champions before the final move:
Andy and Tommy sledding with their new snow tubs soon after we moved in:
View of the back of the house. Builders will finish staining and add the stairway in the spring:
Andy's room:
And a couple of woodland friends that have stopped by. One of many deer we have seen, and an unusual visitor...a gray fox. Something I had never seen before

At one point someone requested a shot looking down the driveway. I'm finally following through on that. Hard to get a true feeling of the distance from just these pictures though.
The first shot is looking straight down the easement from where the driveway turns into our property. So its about 1,300 feet from that point to the road, which you cannot see due to a crest in the driveway. The 2nd shot is also looking toward the road, but at little closer so that you can kinda see the road. Its probably about 900 feet to the road from that point.
That's all I've got. Want to see more of the house, trees, critters, and the surrounding sea of mud? You will have to stop by and pretend you are our friends. Or you can actually even be our real friends! We are socially inept in a new town in the middle of the woods! Time to go talk to the fox....

Moving. Tired. Granite. Carpet. Tired. Moving.
It's time for bed. Random thoughts: Moving stuff. Tired. exercise equipment is heavy. Driving into snowbanks is funny, if its your buddy who does it. granite in. carpeting nearly 100% in. Qwest is dumb. still don't have phone. DirecTV is Thursday. Anticipating they are nearly as dumb as Qwest. Cabinetry nearly done. Bar nearly done. 24 foot moving trucks are long. Acceleration is not their strong suit. Raise a glass to good friends who drive 3+ hours to help you move. And brother in laws who get up at 7AM for 10 hour work day moving stuff. Quite the sight to see a 20x30 foot storage unit empty that was packed to the ceiling the last 5 months. Nearly done. move in Saturday. Tired. Still tired.

Two updates in one day!
Per policy, I am compelled to submit another blog entry. Luckily, I was out at the house this afternoon to spend time widening the driveway in anticipation of the 24 foot truck I have to get in there on saturday. Snapped some picks with my phone, so not the best quality:
Bar cabinets starting to really come together!
Carpeting install started today. Only room completely done is exercise room. Main living area downstairs wasn't started because there is still work going on in the bar. Rest of house got all the padding down and some of the rooms have carpeting loosely laid out.

Tommy's Room:
Great room beams complete:
Most appliances now installed in the kitchen:
Master bath granite:
Tub installed with control pad, and plumbing fixtures:
